U12
(Learn to Train stage of the Long-Term Athlete Development model)
This program is for athletes, 10 and 11 years old, to develop fundamental skills in a fun and competitive environment where the terrain that Lake Louise has to offer acts as their classroom. U12 athletes participate in a combination of club events, Alberta provincial series races, and are exposed to Ski Cross and All Mountain environments. A typical day includes technical freeskiing and/or gate training in the morning and freeskiing the amazing terrain that Lake Louise has to offer in the afternoon.
The athletes' program is comprehensive and designed to support their development both on and off the snow. The focus on dryland training in the fall is excellent for building foundational skills and preparing them for the winter.
When possible they will have access to safe sport training, ski tuning workshops, nutrition and snow safety sessions which shows our commitment to holistic athlete development. The program is tailored to age-appropriate levels, ensuring that young athletes and their parents receive valuable education and support relevant to their stage of development. This kind of approach sets a strong foundation for their long-term success in competitive skiing by emphasizing not just technical skills, but also safety, health, and personal development.

U14
(Learn to Train / Train to Train stage of the Long-Term Athlete Development model)
The U14 program is a continuation of nurturing young athletes in a holistic manner and the developmental journey for young skiers, providing a blend of skill development, competition, and personal growth. Introducing more video analysis, race preparation, and mental training shows a commitment to honing athletes' abilities both on and off the snow. The focus on goal setting is particularly important for young athletes as they begin to understand how to maximize their potential and navigate competitive environments through the Alberta Provincial Race Series with the option of one Ski Cross or Freeride Comp depending on the athletes' goals as a skier.
Exposure to speed elements with the inclusion of Super G camp and race environments, will add new challenges and broaden the athletes' skill sets. The emphasis on freeskiing at Lake Louise remains and is a wonderful opportunity to build confidence in diverse terrain and conditions, setting a strong foundation for future race or freeride programs at the U16 level. Preparing them not only for success in skiing but also for personal growth and resilience both on and off the slopes.
Athletes will have access to safesport training, sport science sessions through AASA, ski tuning workshops and an option for a Youth Avalanche Awareness course demonstrates a well-rounded approach to athlete development and safety awareness.

U16
(Train to Train / Train to Race stage of the Long-Term Athlete Development model)
Our U16 program provides a fun and inclusive environment where athletes continue to develop skills holistically, while providing expanded opportunities to train and complete across Alberta and Western Canada. Athletes have access to training 4 – 5 days/week typically at Lake Louise, however a variety of venues in the Bow Valley, and evenings at COP are used to create opportunities for success in all ski racing disciplines. Training blocks are scheduled in conjunction with Alberta provincial series races and consider athletes’ academic calendars where possible. Our general focus for U16 athletes is on high volume of training coupled with freeskiing and technical freeskiing that allows athletes to push their limits in all competitive on snow environments.
U16 sets athletes up for individual success by introducing strength and conditioning programs in the off season, learn to set and debrief performance goals, have access to video of training sessions and be guided by coaches to become the best version of themselves both on and off snow. Our yearly plan is based around full participation in the program, however other competitive sports are encouraged, and coaches will work with athletes to create the right plan for the individual. Athletes will participate in safe sport training and have access to sport nutrition and mental performance sessions where possible.
Dryland programing is to be discussed individually with coaches; It is highly recommended that athletes have an external strength and conditioning programs or participate in CSI training (not included in the program fee). We strongly recommended that U16s participate in Saturday Dryland in Canmore regardless of individual dryland plan. Other club dryland activities will be encouraged where appropriate for the individual.
